Stranger Things Season 3 will be inspired in the 1985 movie, ‘Fletch’

After its second season blast, Stranger Things will get back on Summer 2019. The Duffer brothers, co-creators of the TV show, have confirmed that both the third and the fourth season are already in the pipeline. The possibility of a fifth season is still hanging by a thread. “If we’re able to, there will be at least four, there could be more. I think there’s going to come to a point where why aren’t these people leaving Hawkins? Like we’re going to stretch credibility. It wasn’t intended to be a seven-season thing” stated Ross Duffer.

It is well-known Duffer’s passion for 80s cinema. The essence of movies like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Steven Spielberg, 1982), The Goonies (Richard Donner, 1985) or Poltergeist (Tobe Hopper, 1982) can be easily traced through the two aired seasons. A setting that has contributed to the success of the show, is now adding Fletch (Michael Ritchie, 1985) as a new source of inspiration. The 1985 movie follows Los Angeles Times reporter Irwin M Fletcher (Chevy Chase) who is offered a large sum of money to kill a millionaire with a terminal cancer prognosis. Fletch becomes suspicious when he discovers the man is not ill.

However, not everything will be easy peasy for the citizens of Hawkins. According to the executive producer Shawn Levy, the third season will be even darker, scarier, bigger and broader. To the inter-dimensional monsters, we have to add another threat: puberty. Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) will act as the adoptive father to 13-14 years old Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) while she deals with adolescence. A lot of body and social changes that will drive Hopper crazy.
